Substitutes for joy

“I sometimes wonder whether all pleasures are not substitutes for joy”

C. S. Lewis

This post should have featured wild animals in their natural habitats in the Botswana bush – though perhaps not quite: “Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains”… as John Cleese would have it.

Instead, here are some photos of the flora in our garden:

    Hi!
I’d love to see the full bloom of the one in the second picture. Lovely photos.
I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t get to go on safari.
    Love to you and Kate.

      Hello Rowena
How lovely to hear from you – and thank you for your most kind sentiments.
We have a lovely bed of peonies at the front of our home here, but they do not last for long. I took this photo a couple of weeks before we left for London and now – a couple of weeks after our return – all of the flowers have gone. Next year I will catch this one in full bloom!
I hope that all is well with you.
      Our love
      Kate and Andy x
